Iron Mountain

Meaning – The term iron mountain, refers to the permanent vital record records document storage. Within an organization, there may be several documents or records that are considered to be of vital importance as they may hold confidential information about the employees, projects, offices around the world, etc. In order to ensure that these records or documents are maintained properly and stored for future reference in a safe and secure manner, the organization sets up iron mountains in undisclosed areas, where a backup of all these records is stored. Only a select few members of the organization have access to this iron mountain in order to minimize the security risks.
