Meaning – The term highlighting, refers to the act of making a certain element or text, more prominent from the rest of the document. This is done to bring the reader’s attention to that specific section of the text to emphasize a point.
Highlighting can be done physically, or within a text editor, if the document is saved on the computer. In order to highlight a specific section, the visual aspect of the selected text is changed in order to bring the attention of the reader to it without a hassle.
Example of usage – “Since the document that she drafted was voluminous, she decided to highlight the key points for the manager so that he could give it a quick read-through and then perform the full read-through at his leisure.”
