Hardcoded

Meaning – The term hardcoded, refers to the software instructions that are statically encoded and not intended to be altered. Whenever a developer releases a new software package, there are some features and some commands that are put into the package, that simply cannot be modified by the end-users.

The term hardcoded also refers to programming code that solves a problem but offers less flexibility for future changes. Hard coding may get the job done, but it can be thought of as “brute force” programming. The degree to which a program is hardcoded determines how difficult it will be to modify later when new types of data are introduced or new functions are added.

Example of usage“When he was working on the software package, there were some features that he hardcoded into the package. These features were critical to the functioning of the package and were frozen from being changed by the end-user.”
