Hard Stop

Meaning – The term hard stop, refers to the absolute final moment of time wherein the task can be completed. Organizations have lots of tasks and projects that are ongoing simultaneously. All of these projects are time-bound, which is why the organization sets hard stops to all the projects. Hard stops reveal to the employees, the absolute last day till which the project can be completed.

If the task is completed after the designated hard stop, the submission is either not accepted, or the employee may face some consequences.

Sometimes, hard stops are also used as a means to keep the employees motivated and driven to perform in a timely manner.

Example of usage“When he joined the new development team, his first assignment had a very aggressive hard stop, which meant he had to work double-time to get the job done in time.”
