Glyph

Meaning – The term glyph, refers to a single character or symbol in a font set. Every font set is different and has its own unique set of characters and symbols. Users are free to install these fonts onto their computers and use them for their individual purposes. every single character within this font set is termed a glyph.

In information technology, a glyph is a graphic symbol that provides the appearance or form for a character. A glyph can be an alphabetic or numeric font or some other symbol that pictures an encoded character.

A character conveys distinctions in meaning or sounds. A character has no intrinsic appearance.  However, a glyph conveys distinctions in form but it has no intrinsic meaning.
