Footprint

Meaning – The term footprint, refers to the space occupied by the computer system, or the other relevant hardware components, within a home office or an organization. In the past, computers occupied a very large footprint, but over the years, thanks to the evolution of technology, computers have become slimmer and smaller and as such, are occupying a smaller footprint.

The term footprint also refers to the amount of computer storage that is occupied by a computer program. For example, if a program occupies a large amount of storage, it has a large footprint.

It is commonly believed that today, the smaller the footprint occupied by the computer, the better it is for practicality.

Example of usage“He had rigged up a powerful gaming rig, but what made it extra special is that it had a very small footprint compared to the other gaming rigs in the market.”
