Meaning – The term field, corresponds to an individual element of data within a database. A field can correspond to data of any kind within the database and can be edited, appended, or even deleted as per the requirement. For example, in a database consisting of employee information, elements such as employee name, address, designation, etc. are known as field.
The term field may also correspond to the element within a dialogue box, that allows for user input. It is characterized by a rectangular box with a blinking cursor that points to where the user and type in the required data.
Example of usage – “She was tasked with studying the employee database and add, remove or modify the fields according to the latest report that had been compiled. This maintained the relevancy of the fields and as a result, the database as a whole.”
