Fiber Optic Network

Meaning – Fiber Optic Network, commonly known as Fiber internet, is a broadband connection that can reach speeds of up to 940 Megabits per second (Mbps), with low lag time. The technology uses a fiber-optic cable, which amazingly can send data as fast as about 70% of the speed of light.

A common advantage of the fiber optic network is that the cables are less susceptible to getting damaged by changing weather conditions. This is a problem that is encountered in traditional cables and can lead to a network outage in case of heavy damage.

Fiber is ideal for multiple users to connect several devices at once.

Some of the advantages of using Fiber Optic Network are as follows –

  1. Upload and Download speeds are very fast and this allows high-speed downloads from the internet.
  2. Online gaming and video conferencing are seamless.
  3. You can back up your entire hard drive onto a cloud within minutes.

Example of usage“Since he needed fast and consistent internet connectivity, he switched from his old-fashioned dial-up internet connection to the more modern and fast fiber-optic network.”
