Emulation Program

Meaning – The term emulation program, refers to the IBM control program that allows a channel-attached IBM communication controller to emulate the functions of an IBM 2701 Data Adapter Unit, an IBM 2702 Transmission Control, or an IBM 2703 Transmission Control.

A application program operates like any other application on the computer. However when you are emulating an outdated terminal or mainframe, the interface will be text only.

There are many organisations around the world, that need to work with fairly outdated programs. They use emulation programs to run these older applications on their modern mainframe computers.

Example of usage“The organisation was in the market since many years and as such, needed to use emulation programs to run most of their applications which were obsolete in the current market.”
