Down level

Meaning – The term down level, refers to a software that is not the latest build or version. Software developers create a software means to perform certain tasks. However, the initial versions of the software may be riddled with bugs or glitches which the developers fix buy providing bug fix upgrades.

Sometimes, the software developers release a whole new version of the software and make it available as an upgrade over the older build. While some people upgrade to the latest build there are those that prefer to stay with the older version or build of the software. In such cases, the older version of the software is termed as a down level software.

Example of usage“When she boot her laptop after many months, she saw that most of the softwares on the system were now down level, and she would have to upgrade them all to the latest version in order to use the new features and functionalities.”
