Database

Meaning – The word database, refers to the sequential collection of data, stored in a computer system. The database is usually controlled and operated, using a database management system, and these two, along with the other associated applications, form the database system, which is commonly known as just the database.

The Data that is contained in a particular database, is arranged in an organised manner, in the form of rows and columns, like a table.

The data can then be easily accessed, managed, modified, updated, controlled, and organized. Most databases use structured query language (SQL) for writing and querying data.

The concept of databases was introduced in the 1960s, and have undergone significant evolution ever since. Today, cloud databases and self driving databases are used around the world, and they are setting new stands with respect the way that the data is collected, managed and utilised.
