Meaning – Data stream refers to a stream of encoded signals that are coherent and used to transmit or receive information that is in the process of being transmitted.
A data stream is also defined as a set of extracted information from a data provider.
Typically, a data stream consists of raw data that is extracted from the browsing history of the individual. This data is then used by data scientists to come up with a more customised browsing experience for the individual, the next time he/she browses the web.
The internet has become a very intimate and tailor made experience, thanks to the dawn of AI and machine learning, but it is the data stream, that feed these technologies and enables them to do their tasks to the best of their capabilities.
Example of usage – “The data scientist was surprised to see the number of data streams that were available for study.”
