Cryptography

Meaning – The word cryptography, refers to the study or process of concealing information. The main objective of the process of cryptography is to keep the desired information, safe and secure. This practise has been in use since the ancient times, and while the techniques have evolved, the essence has remained the same.

When a message is sent using cryptography, it is encrypted first, in such a way that to the ordinary person, it will appear like a string of gibberish. Only the person with the cryptography key can actually decrypt this message and view its original content.

The cryptographic method needn’t be secret. Various people can use the same method but different keys, so they cannot read each other’s messages.

Example of usage“Since the group was working on a secret assignment, they extensively used cryptography techniques to keep the information secure.”
