Meaning – The word crash, refers to the process of halting unexpectedly, in an irrecoverable manner. Sometimes, a software may experience a bug or glitch while running, and as a result, it may just quit out, without saving the data being worked on and also without any warning. This phenomenon is referred to as a crash.
A crash in a computer system may occur due to a known or unknown bug in the software, or a defect in one of the hardware components. Also, these crashes may or may not have a permanent solution.
In case of hardware, a replacement of the faulty component can fix the crash. As far as software is concerned, crashes can be fixed via patches released by the developers.
Example of usage – “The gamer was waiting patiently for the game developers to announce a patch that would fix the nagging crashes that the game was currently experiencing.”
