Meaning – A control program is a computer program that is designed to schedule and supervise the execution of different programs on a computer system.

The control program predominantly presents a graphical interface that makes it easy for all levels to use and understand the control program and how it operates.

In many situations, a control program is also referred to as an operational environment.

To state it simply, the main control program in a computer system, is its operating system, as its controls the way all other programs run on the system.
