Meaning – Configuration refers to the arrangement of hardware and software components, that make-up an entire computer system.
A typical computer system consists of certain types of components, which are tailor made to suit the way the computer is designed to perform. A list is prepared by the manufacturer, of these components, and that list is then released on the brand’s website for the consumers to go through. The list is referred to as the configuration of the computer, and its also one of the things that is provided within the operating system as well.
Computers have evolved a lot over the years, but the practise of releasing the configuration for each new device, has remained unchanged.
Example of usage – “The gamer went through the configuration of all the PCs in his shortlist, before making his final choice.”
