Meaning – A communication line refers to a cable that is used by the various telephone companies to transmit signals over long distances. These signals can include content such as voice communications, video signals, Internet material, electronic mail, or data.
These lines are essentially wires, cables, tubes, pipes or other similar equipment that are designed or adapted for use in connection with the operation of a telecommunication system or a radio-communication apparatus with any casing, coating, tube or pipe enclosing the same and any appliances and apparatus connected with the same applications.
The term communication line is currently obsolete, and has been replaced with the term telecommunication line.
Example of Usage – “The maintenance personnel had been called upon by the organisation, to inspect the communication lines for any damage, as there were many reports of lapses in communication or signal transmission.”
