Command Line

MeaningCommand Line refers to a text based interface on computer systems. Specifically, the command line is a blank line with a cursor, that allows you to type in instructions for immediate execution by the computer.

Today, all major operating systems (Windows, MacOS, Linux) in the market support command lines, thereby allowing the programmers or even enthusiasts to explore this interface, irrespective of the OS they are running on their PCs.

Programmers and power users can employ the command line to perform file management operations directly and often more efficiently than by using a graphical user interface (GUI). After typing a command, it is executed by pressing the Enter key.
