Meaning – The word closedown, refers to the process of shutting down an application, process or a system, once the task required from it are completed as required.
However, since there are other words that could be used to signify the aforementioned task, the word closedown is more often used to refer to the process of completely deactivating a system or a process.
Sometimes, a system may become infected with a lot of malware or virus, or the process may become obsolete. In such cases, they must be closed down, before any action can be contemplated.
The process of closedown is final, and is exercised, only where there is not other alternative or solution that may be exercised.
Example of usage – “Since his computer was too old, and didn’t work as expected, he decided to close it down and buy a new one.”
