Meaning – A check box refers to an interactive box with associated text beside it, representing an option. When you have to fill in a form or a survey, you will see check boxes next to each option, and the way to confirm your choice it to click on the check box next to the corresponding option.
Check boxes are also used within the UI of a computer OS, or any software package in general. This form of confirmation is much easier and better than having each individual type out their preferred option, which is a hassle and can lead to some confusions down the line.
Example of usage – “The survey consisted of ten questions with four options each. The employees were instructed to check the box that was next their preferred option.”
