Meaning – In the world of computing the word catalog, refers to a directory of information about data sets, files, or a database . A catalog usually describes where a data set, file or database entity is located and may also include other information, such as the type of device on which each data set or file is stored.

A catalog can also be a list that is being worked on by an employee and in such cases, it refers to the process of entering elements into a well organised list to items that are being documented for future use or reference.
