Meaning – The term blue sky, refers to something that is not restricted by factors like practicality, possibility, politics or popular trends. Usually, when a maverick designer or developers starts an independent business, the initial approach is a blue sky approach. The ideas a floated with no consideration of whether or not its practical, possible to implement or even conforming to the current trends. The result of this can go either ways, where the startup works out and the profits overshadow the other aspects, or the approach tanks and its back to doing things the old way.
A Blue Sky approach to R&D is usually considered good, as it allows for out of the box and boundless imagination. The results obtained from the Blue Sky approach can be used to identify which one is most feasible and possible to execute.
