Guenther Steiner Aims to Finalize Haas’ 2024 Line-up Before Summer Break

Haas team principal Guenther Steiner has expressed his desire to announce Haas’ driver line-up for the 2024 season before the summer break, aiming to avoid a prolonged “silly season” saga like the one that unfolded last year.

In the 2023 season, Haas faced considerable speculation regarding Mick Schumacher’s future with the team. Ultimately, the team opted for experience by signing Nico Hulkenberg alongside Kevin Magnussen. This decision has proven successful, with Hulkenberg outperforming his teammate in qualifying and making a valuable contribution to the team.

With most drivers already contracted for the 2024 season, Haas’ seats were among the few potentially available on the grid. However, Steiner is satisfied with the current performance of his drivers and sees no reason to make changes for the 2024 campaign.

Steiner hopes to make a decision about the team’s drivers before the summer break, considering it a straightforward choice. He aims to confirm the line-up as soon as possible.

“I hope before the summer break, I think we can make the decision,” Steiner stated. “You know, we need to obviously do it and we will get our drivers confirmed soon as possible. I mean, as I said before, I mean, it’s nothing new for you guys. I’m pretty happy with our driver lineup now.”

Despite Haas’ strong performances in qualifying, the team has struggled during races, with the VF-23 experiencing rapid tire degradation compared to its rivals. Steiner acknowledges the frustration this has caused and highlights the importance of finding the right car setup to consistently deliver competitive performances.

Steiner also expressed concern over two power unit failures that Hulkenberg experienced in recent races, emphasizing the need for reliability and consistency as the team aims to secure valuable points.

As the summer break approaches, Steiner aims to finalize Haas’ 2024 driver line-up, providing stability and clarity for the team’s future endeavors in Formula 1.
