PlanetSide 2 breaks the world record for the most players in a single FPS battle

PlanetSide 2, a free-to-play MMOFPS, smashes its own Guinness World Record on two servers at the same time, with over 2,300 players accepting the call.

PlanetSide 2 has just begun a campaign to shatter the global record for the most participants in an FPS fight, which it has proudly held since 2015. The effort was a huge success, with PlanetSide 2 users breaking the record on two servers at the same time as hundreds of gamers turned out to support the MMO.

PlanetSide 2 is the follow-up to Sony Online Entertainment’s PlanetSide, the first MMOFPS that lasted over 13 years. Whereas most shooters take place on constrained battlefields with small teams and time constraints, PlanetSide 2 takes place over many huge continents with thousands of players fighting for territory on land, in the air, and, most recently, in the ocean. Players may play a number of jobs, including helpful doctors, fighter pilots, tank drivers, transporters, covert saboteurs, engineers, and more. PlanetSide 2 has seen a constant stream of big upgrades over the years, including additional vehicles, weaponry, continents, a mercenary side, and even player-controlled base construction.

Daybreak Games attempted to join its gamers in breaking PlanetSide 2’s Guinness World Record for the most players in an online FPS duel, which featured 1,158 people, as part of the game’s 10-year anniversary celebration. The record was broken on the Emerald server with over 1,228 players on the Amerish continent and again with over 1,241 people on the Indar continent in this last try. The record was supposed to be attempted on the game’s Public Test Server, but technical issues arose, and the community quickly adjusted to the new plan. To mark the event, participants will be given unique titles.

The 10th Anniversary Update, which coincides with the world record attempt, will bring a fresh wave of significant enhancements to PlanetSide 2. Capture The Conduit, a new capture-the-flag-style facility capture game, is being implemented, which could significantly change up clashes over key facilities. The update also includes a slew of aesthetic improvements, such as enhanced anti-aliasing algorithms, water reflections, updated explosions, sharper textures, and more realistic screen space reflections. The update, as predicted, includes a wave of balancing modifications impacting a broad variety of goods and roles.

Despite its age, PlanetSide 2’s ability to shatter long-held records attests to the game’s devoted fan base. PlanetSide 2 is worth a try for players seeking an original first-person shooter since it is a free-to-play game with a unique experience and vast scope.
